Crazy Kids

Madeleine and two of her cousins (actually second cousins) are each a year apart. Madeleine and Kendal were both born the end of July and Claire was born just this past June on my birthday. I thought it would be great to get a picture of all three of them together at Thanksgiving dinner this past Sunday. I should have know that would not be possible while dealing with two very independent toddlers. This is what I ended up with.

My uncle mentioned they are just like my cousins and I when we were that age. We were all pretty much a year a part too. Hopefully, they will be just as inseparable as we were growing up.

Kendall would not stand next to Madeleine for anything. She is not really asleep. I moved her next to Madeleine and she turned into a limp noodle and fell to the ground. She hates to have her picture taken.
Next, I thought about having them all lay down next to each other. Claire and Kendal cooperated but Madeleine threw a fit and took off as soon as I put her down next to Claire.
Oh well, I will try again at Christmas time. Maybe they will cooperate better.

Cha, Cha, CHA!

Grandma and Grandpa Faber just got back from Cabo San Lucas Mexico and brought some gifts up to Madeleine today. She was not sure what to think about the hat and did not move from the position in the second pic until we took the hat off.

Pigtail!

Halloween was the first time we ever put Madeleine's hair up in pigtails. She did not mind at all and even left them in all night. I think it made her look like a totally different girl.

Here is Madeleine sporting her "Pebbles" look. We are seriously considering having her be Pebbles for Halloween next year. Any takers to be Bam Bam?

Tag, I'm it!

Fine, Fine! Thanks for reminding me Kira. I had started this post and then had to run to the lab and forgot to finish it. I have been tagged by Kira and I now have to list seven quirky things about myself. This is going to be difficult seeing as how I am probably about as quirky as they come. I am pretty sure I can narrow it down to 7 though.

1. All hangers in my closet (and Madeleine's and Ryan's) have to be the same color. The clothes are arranged in order by color - white, Grey, ROY G BIV, Black - then by sleeve style and sleeve length.

2. All of my shoes are still in their original boxes.

3. I know where every single toy of Madeleine's is. She has toys that go in her room, toys in the living room and toys in the playroom. Most evening I put everything back in the proper room. If she dumps her puzzles and moves on to something else I put them back together right away.

4. I cannot wear socks to bed. They twist and it annoys me.

5. I have to have the sheets tucked in at the foot of the bed every evening and the sheets have to be smooth.

6. Like Kira, I count my steps when I walk. In sets of eight. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 - 2,2,3,4,5,6,7,8- 3,2,3,4,5,6,7,8- etc.

7. I will not walk on the grates that are set into sidewalks. They freak me out.

Now who should I tag.....
1. Suz and
2. Carmen!

15 month Appointment

Madeleine had her 15-month appointment yesterday (Oct. 20). It was few weeks early due to needing to have her ears checked.

After 6 weeks and several rounds of antibiotics later Madeleine's ear infection is finally gone! Yay! Next up would have been antibiotic shots and then tubes. It was only her second one since she has been born, but they do not go away very easily.

She is right on track and the pedi was very impressed that she can now eat with a spoon and fork (and get most of it to her mouth) and put the shapes in her shape sorter (if you point out the right hole). Madeleine now says Mama, Dada, that, juice (which is her word for any drink), down, dog, Helix, duck, quack, and Tess. I am pretty sure she says thank you too if you say it to her and we swear she said night, night when she was ready for bed the other night.

She received the first dose of her Flu shot and the Chicken Pox Vaccine. She goes back in 4 weeks for the second dose of her Flue shot and her MMR. She also had blood drawn for some routine blood tests. She only whimpered when they stuck the needle in for the blood draw, but screamed bloody murder with the shots.

Here are her Stats:
Weight: 22lbs 4oz - 60%tile
Height: 32 inches - 92%tile
Head: 19 inches - 50%tile

And since this was such a long and boring post, I will now leave you with a few pics of our Toddler.
What? I'm not doing anything.

Wanna see my tummy?

No? Fine, then pick me up.

First Wedding Reception

At first Madeleine was unsure of the music, dance floor, and all the other kids running around. She soon got the hang of it though and was running around with them in no time.

Riding the dog

Madeleine's new favorite pastime is trying to ride the dog. She climbs on and bounces then Helix moves. Repeat several times until we have to distract Madeleine or put Helix outside. Good thing she has such an easy going nature.

Picnic

A few weeks ago we broke out the fire pit for the first time. The neighbors came over with their daughter and we roasted hotdogs and made smores. Keeping 2 one year olds away from the fire was tricky but good times were had by all.

This was Madeleine's first time eating at her picnic table. She actually did really well. She sat there until she was done and then was able to get up when she was ready. No throwing of her food on the floor/ground.

"Hmmm...I think what you have is better than what I have."
"Hey, what are you doing on my side of the table?"
"Go back to your own side!"

Water? What water?

Hanging out at watching some Football

Madeleine could really care less about the game but she sure had fun playing with her new toys at grandpa and grandma Hamiltons (yay for garage sales!). Afterwards we went over to a friends has and happened to catch just one pic of our kids being cute together.
